Welcome Home Baby Anson | Long Island Newborn Lifestyle Photographer

I get absolutely giddy when I get to capture a lifestyle session in my clients home. Especially when it is welcoming home a newborn baby. During the winter months on Long Island, it can get cold and wet, so no better place to capture the essence of what makes a family theirs, than their own home. Come take a peek into this family's home and the joy, happiness, and love that lives there.

As you can see, this family adores memories. I was honored to be able to capture another photographer's family.

Cute feet, how could I resist capturing this.

A Day in the Life of A Long Island Photographer

Here is week two of my personal project as a Long Island Photographer. I love capturing my family, mostly my boys, in this day to day life of ours.

He was playing with his blocks in this beautiful light. He told me it was an ice cream cone. I love his imagination.

He loves being independent. Washing his hands after he brushed his teeth. Soon he won't need to stand on a step stool, that makes me a little sad.

Baby boy loves looking out the window. Love the light highlighting his little features.

His giggle! I love that I caught the in the pocket of light created by the sunsetting outside. Long Island has some beautiful sunsets.

He just loves remotes, remotes of all kinds. I swear he can zero in on them from across the room.

Baking cookies with my boy. I got in front of the camera to capture this one. Not the easiest to do, but to worth it. I Loe this shot.

A stop at our favorite store. We love target. Yes, I am that mom who will give my kiddos goldfish while shopping so I can enjoy my shopping.

A View Into the Life of a Long Island Photographer During the Winter

A View Into the Life of a Long Island Photographer During the Winter

Winter sets in on Long Island and my outdoor portrait sessions come to a halt. The weather is unpredictable, so even if I wanted to do a snow day shoot, or take advantage of the random 50 degree days we have, its hard to plan. As a Long Island Photographer, I like to keep sharp on my shooting skills so I can not provide the best portraits possible for my clients. It also give me a chance to document my family. I have started a 365 day personal project. Each day I will capture one photo of my family or our life. This type of photography is often called Lifestyle photography or documentary photography; they often cross over. It is actually my favorite genre of photography to capture. If you didn't know already, I also shoot these types of sessions in my clients homes. Capturing the real moments, as they unfold, and just as you are.

This is week one of my project.

Long Island Wedding Photographer | East Hampton | A Rainy Day Courthouse Wedding

As the date for their wedding approached, the forecast for East Hampton, Long Island was not looking good; chilly and rain. As a Long Island Wedding Photographer I have had great luck on shooting many weddings with plenty of sun. Long Island has some beautiful weather that makes shooting weddings here so much fun. However, despite the gloomy outlook,  I was well prepared for the rain, and I made sure the bride would have what we needed to capture the beautiful day's moments. Marianne, the bride, was not worried at all and was ready for anything. I love when my brides have a laid back approach to their big day. It seems to go much smoother that way, and the brides enjoy their day so much more. When her family hired me to capture her day, they bought my smallest package because it as a small wedding at the courthouse in East Hampton, however, after Marianne and I spoke, I got her so excited about the ideas I had for portraits about town, that they upgraded the package to have more time with me. I am so glad they did!

I was chilly and my socks and shoes were soaked, but it was so worth it.

First we captured some portraits outside of the courthouse.

Then it was time to get married, so off to the courthouse we went.

After the wedding we went around Main St. in East Hampton.

Then I suggest we go to Starbucks down the road for some cute pictures and to warm up.

Once we warmed up, we ventured back outside and I took them into the bookstore, BookHampton, which is so cute and has amazing titles. I suggest you check them out if ever in East Hampton. The staff there was very accommodating to allowing me to capture some fun.

It was such a great day, despite the weather. This couple had fun, even in the rain. I wish them many many years of great love, laughter, and fun!

Long Island Wedding Photographer | Westhampton Beach| All Hallows Eve

When I met Collete to talk about her big day, she was so excited about what she had planned. As A Long Island wedding photographer, photographing a wedding on Halloween Eve is an exciting opportunity. Collete's favorite holiday is Halloween. I love that her husband, Lou, was all game. There were little details in the wedding such as little skulls on the guy's boutonnières and the bride's bouquet. They had a cake that was spookily delightful, filled with red jam to add to the fun and it was topped with a cake topper that resembled Frankenstein and his bride.

They got married in Westhampton Beach in the beautiful gazebo off of Main St.  The weather was beyond amazing, a warm 78 degrees and sunny. It is funny, most brides want sunshine on their big day, but this bride was hoping for rain to add to the day's theme. The wedding didn't go offwithout a hitch. The chairs never arrived from the rental company so the groomsmen had to borrow some chairs from the local church. Thank you United Methodist Church!

The rain did arrive during the reception though and she was afraid that we couldn't do the sparkler send off. But just as the party was winding down, so did the storm. Lou and Collette, along with their beautiful daughters, family, and friends celebrated through out the evening at Mil RoadHouse and they ended the beautiful day with the sparkler send off.

Some Fun at Wertheim, Long Island Wildlife Refuge | Photography Session

I had such an amazing time capturing this bright young lady's portrait. This is Kathryn, and she loves this Wildlife Refuge located in Shirley, NY. One of Long Island's great hidden treasures.

Such a beautiful park. Located On Long Island, NY

When she isn't busy being a teenager, this young lady is a camp counselor and teaches science to youngsters. See loves the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. She has been a camper there since she was in elementary school and now enjoys being a counselor. She said you can often see fox and deer in the park.

We had so much fun during our shoot, laughing and getting to know each other. We share the same favorite color, which is blue.

She loves this trail and insisted she had a photo on it.  Long Island | Shannon Lee Photography

We made sure to schedule her photo shoot during the best time for light, the golden hour. Its when we get this dreamy light before the sun sets over Long Island, NY.

Kathryn and her mom came in about a week after their session and we designed a beautiful heirloom photo album with the portraits from this shoot. Kathryn picked out her favorite which is one of her jumping up in the air and enjoying herself during the shoot.

Having a blast at her photo shoot.  Long Island, NY | Shannon Lee Photography
